Vintage Coro Double Leaf & Rhinestone Insect Brooch: Although I was unable to find a patent number for this delightful vintage Coro brooch, it is very similar to the insect brooches that date from the late 1940's. In excellent condition, this gold washed double leaf brooch has a whimsical rhinestone bug perched on top. The head of the insect has a red glass high dome cabochon, clear rhinestone eyes, and blue navettes for the wings. The body is a larger smoky blue navette. This is a very detailed and dimensional piece! His face is very life and he has the cutest pointy ears. His little shoes even curl up at the tips! The faux pearls in his cart are different sizes and in excellent condition. The little wheel on the cart even turns! There is some minor flaking to the black enamel paint through out the brooch, but it does not effect the look of the piece in any way. Signed Marvella, measures 2 1/4 by 2".
1948 Coro Victor Horse Brooch: This enchanting brooch by Coro was featured in a 1948 magazine add. Named "Victor", this delightful equine features bright pink navette rhinestone ears and an aqua blue navette eye. He wears a garland of pink enameled flowers around his neck with green enameled leaves. He is made of gold tone metal and has a nice substantial weight. He is accented by bright red enamel for his mouth, and detailed with black enamel. There is slight plating loss on the back of the pendant due to age and wear. One of my Coro favorites!
Matched Pair Vintage Signed ART Mother of Pearl Fish Brooches: Another wonderful vintage figural from the ART company, these 1950's mother of pearl fish are delightful! Disks of shimmering MOP form the scales of these highly detailed and dimensional deep sea denizens. Their bodies are formed of gold tone metal. There is some chipping to a few of the MOP edges which is indicative of age and wear but it in no way detracts from this pair of flashy fish! Shown in Classic American Costume Jewelry by Jaqueline Rehmann on page 68. They measures 3 by 1 1/4" and are signed ART(c).
