Astounding 14KT Gold Art Nouveau Gibson Girl with Snakes Watch Pin/ Brooch
This Art Nouveau brooch is crafted in 14 kt gold ( marked and tested). The incredibly beautiful lady ( a classic Gibson girl)is dimensionally raised above the brooch background with her head tilted appealingly to the right. She wears huge flowers in her hair and has an up-swept hair style. Her necklace features a small sparkling faceted diamond. Our lovely lady is surrounded by extremely detailed grape leaves and bordered with sinuous snakes. Adorning the brooch are two bright pinkish red rubies, each 3mm that are held securely in place by 6 prongs. The craftsmanship in this gorgeous piece of history is incredible. The style of the brooch and the clasp date this piece from 1905-1910. The brooch has a substantial hook to hang a watch or a locket and the clasp closes securely. The brooch weighs 6.5 grams.
